The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience that should be enjoyed by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest bicycle tunnel, has been constructed as a part of the 42-kilometer cycle route which runs through the capital.
The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The southern entrance of the tunnel is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be located in Nahal Ein Kerem.
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was inaugurated on Thursday by Jerusalem and the heritage minister Ze’evElkin and Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon, chairman of Gihon and a plethora of other cyclists also attended.
Jerusalem’s glorious past was a reason for it to be a popular tourist destination in the past. Elkin said that today in addition to its historic treasures, it is also a destination for modern-day tourists. “The opening of this tunnel is another aspect of the growth of the city of Jerusalem and its transformation into a dazzling city that is attractive to all types of visitors in Israel and around the world.”

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to exclusive recreation areas such as Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical aquarium and zoo, and also the ancient natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
